When is the right time to replace your Timing Belt and/or Water Pump.

You may wonder how often to replace a timing belt. Years ago it was recommended about every 60,000 miles. That has all changed with today's technology. Manufacturers now recommend changing belts at about 100,000 miles. Whats not told to you is if you are a aggressive driver you need to check your belt a lot sooner. Timing belts are made of rubber and wire. Rubber stretches and cracks over time and cause problems later. To be safe you should check what the vehicle’s manufacturer recommends and stay within that mileage unless your a speedy driver. Faulty timing belts may have loss of power, loss of fuel economy, misfiring and engine vibration. Timing belts really don't make any noise unless the rubber starts slapping the cover. Most people won't hear that, So get things checked before something happens. If you have a timing chains they would become very noisy as they loosened and began to chatter.

If you are in need of a timing belt, you really should replace the water pump and all the timing belt pulley's and tensioner. If one part is bad it could be anytime soon for one of the other parts to fail. It's a lot cheaper to do it at the same time. Your right there and it really doesn't take much longer. Plus its cheaper most of the time to buy a complete kit.

Please have your vehicle checked. Its a lot cheaper Now!
